Star birth

It’s been a while since our last post but we were busy in the workshop. This black and white set was the most photogenic so here it is. To liven up the simple black and white combination, a touch of pink did the job.

Inspiration came from documentary about star formation I’ve seen a while ago. A simple portray of dark molecular clouds with clusters of newly forming stars really captures the eye.

For polished black finish no cheating while sanding is allowed. We used grids: 320, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1200, 1500, 2000 and polished with home made cotton drill attachment. Polishing black clay is the least forgiving and often reveals mistakes you’ve made while sanding and even before baking, which you wouldn’t notice on the lighter clays.
